A Colorado family is suing Instant Pot after their daughter was left with third-degree burns after one of the electric pressure cookers exploded. Caroline, nine, was covered in scalding soup and her face was burned by the steam (pictured top fight). She ended up suffering 16 percent burns across her body including to her arms (bottom right) and had to undergo week of treatment at Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Burn Center. She ‘sustained serious, painful, disfiguring, and permanent scalding burn injuries to her shoulder, arm, chest, and torso’, the lawsuit states. Instant Pot say the cooker should be impossible to open when pressurized.
